Dr Athol Candlish
Osteopath
B.Sc. (Osteopathy)/M.H.Sc. (Osteopathy)
Athol found his passion for working with the human body from a young age where he was exposed to several injuries through his sporting days. Having been treated by an osteopath Athol developed an eagerness to assist people using a range of hands on skills and exercise.
Athol completed his Bachelors of Clinical Science and Masters of Osteopathy at Victoria University where he spent five years training. Prior to this, Athol was studying Biomedicine for a year before he knew Osteopathy was for him.
In the treatment room, Athol places a strong emphasis on educating his patients about what they have injured and how to appropriately manage their condition. Along with hands-on therapy, Athol particularly enjoys using an active approach and will help guide his patients through a rehabilitation program which consists of exercises and stretches to help people get back to their goals.
Athol has had a wide range of experience working with a variety of people of all ages. His clinic work is complemented with aged care and NDIS roles at an Allied Health company. Athol has always had a passion for sport hence his love for treating the various injuries that come from them. He particularly enjoys treating runners and footballers and has done some extra study in these specific areas. Athol has previously worked as a sports trainer.
When Athol is not in the clinic, he enjoys finding himself on a run, kicking the football with the Old Carey Football Club or socialising with family and friends.
